Columbus City Hall helped establish a strong civic presence for the municipal government of Columbus, Indiana, a small city widely regarded for its significant collection of Modernist art and architecture. Designed by Edward Charles Bassett of SOM, the building was completed in 1981. On its front facade, two cantilevered brick walls stop just before meeting to frame a distinctive recessed main entrance. Set back within is a semi-circular, double-story curtain wall designed to reflect the historic Bartholomew County Courthouse located across the street.
